Our Wedding: Reception

Yippee! After 10 days of not posting (embarrassing, I know) I’m back and rounding off our wedding posts with pictures from our reception 🙂

Our reception was simply amazing, it blew our expectations out of the water.

We both loved every moment of it and I think it’s safe to say our guests did too 🙂

For our centerpieces I knew I wanted to do something out of the box. I love flowers but I wanted them to be an accent, not the centerpiece itself. I’m not sure where I got the idea of vintage lamps as centerpieces (maybe here?). Regardless the I loved /love the lamps. Not only were they fun, but I felt like they played well with the old southern hotel where we celebrated our marriage.

We gave our guests “Sweet Tea Kits” as a “thank you” for celebrating our wedding with us.  I found the idea in an issue of Martha Stewart Weddings and made it our own by designing a tag to match our wedding papers.

Our wedding cake topper was from my parents engagement cake – and our’s too 🙂

Our first dance was to “Bigger Than Us” by Andy Davis and sung by our dear friend, Reggi Beasley.

My Dad and I danced to “My Girl” by The Temptations and Cole and his Mom danced to “Like My Momma Does” by Lauren Alaina.

For dinner we served our guest some of our favorite southern dishes:

Shrimp and Grits

Fried Green Tomoato Sliders

Pulled Pork and Coleslaw on Cronbread Pancakes

Fried Grouper Fingers

I won’t lie, our cake was one of my favorite parts of the evening. If I had known how good it was to start- we would have cut it upon our entry to the reception :). Our cake was made by Paige of Priceless Desserts. The design was inspired by this spread in Southern Weddings Magazine.

The topper on Cole’s Groom’s Cake read “Woo Pig Sooie!”, the celebration chant of Cole’s hometown team, The University of Arkansas Razorbacks.

Yes, my little brother and his friends did a great job with the getaway car.
